South Korea Bumps Up Olympians’ Protection Against the Zika Virus
The Zika virus has become a pretty massive epidemic with some very serious dangers. Despite the threat it poses to people’s health, however, the 2016 Summer Olympic Games are still being held in Brazil where the virus seems to be flourishing the most. Olympic athletes are still practicing and preparing to compete…in many outdoor sports such as track. I would think that every team would be doing whatever they can to prepare for this danger, but it seems that only South Korea is taking this threat seriously.
The uniforms of the South Korean Olympians are fortified by insect repellents and are all comprised of long sleeves, pants, and a jacket. Their Olympic committee is making it mandatory for them to wear these Zika-safe uniforms at all times including during training, in all the ceremonies, and in the athletes village. South Korea also already sent a team of officials to check out the venues and local hospitals. Now, come on – why isn’t everyone doing this? Let’s get our act together people!
How many Olympic athletes do you think will catch the Zika virus this summer?
