The Emerging Field Of Bed Bug Law
During the mid 20th century it looked as though bed bugs had seen their last days on this planet. However, the 2000s have seen a ferocious comeback of these nasty creepy-crawlies. As you likely know, bedbugs can be an expensive infestation, as bedbug victims are forced to throw away every piece of furniture and fabric that they own to ensure that their former housemates have been truly eradicated. So what happens when an individual or an entire family is renting property that is infested with bedbugs? The answer can vary, as lawyers will often be called upon to argue such bedbug cases for tenants and landlords alike.
The field of bed bug law, if you will, has become so lucrative that some lawyers have given up their previous specialties in favor of focusing solely on defending victims of bedbugs. One such lawyer has over 60 clients at the present moment, and has won cases in which his defendants were awarded sums as high as $800,000. Maybe law school is worth the price after all.
Do you know anyone that had to call in a lawyer because of a bedbug infestation? Why did they need to?
