Scientists Release Hundreds Of Spiders in the UK
Scientists in the United Kingdom have terrified many citizens by releasing once captive spiders that are as big as mice into the city and nearby towns. The spider in known as the Fen Raft Spiders, and despite several unhappy citizens, scientists are happy since this spider will benefit the ecosystem.
This spider is not endangered in the United States but in the United Kingdom their populations have been dwindling during the past few decades. Starting in 2011 scientists released four hundred of these spiders and then plenty more during the subsequent years. Now, thankfully, there does not seem to be any further need to release any more of them, as their populations are back to normal.
These spiders are known to consume animals as large as fish, they are the largest of all spiders native to the UK, and are capable of crawling above the water and spend most of their time around ponds and other small bodies of water. The Fen Raft Spiders are harmless to humans and are notable for the tremendous amount of pests and undesirable insects that they consume. It has been a good past couple of years for the Fen Raft Spider, and hopefully people will learn to stop killing them unless they want to see another controlled outbreak.
