How To Keep Mature Spiders From Roaming Your Home This Fall

Toward the end of summer and the start of fall homeowners may have noticed from past seasons that spiders seem to make frequent appearances inside of their homes. Some of these spiders are very large, so seeing one crawling across your floor while watching TV can be a little disconcerting.

So why is it always between summer and fall that we see more and more spiders come out of hiding from the nooks and crannies of our homes, and into our living areas? Well, a big part of their lack of shyness comes from the spiders attempts to find a mate once they have reached adulthood, and if that means that they will be found and squashed by the homeowner, then so be it. During the cooler months spiders are given their only chance to mate with females. So how can you get rid of these nasty sex-crazed creepy crawlies?

One obvious method at keeping a spider-free home during these later months would be to keep your house clean of the food and crumbs that may be found in your carpet and elsewhere in your home, as spiders are attracted to human leftovers. Or you could spray cotton balls with oil or insect repellent around the cracks in your home. But no matter which precaution you take, your home will likely become a breeding ground for spiders during the late summer and fall months.
