Nature Host Lets Velvet Ant Sting Him for Fans
Some people will do just about anything for show business. This definitely holds true for YouTube Brave Wilderness host Coyote Peterson. Dealing with some rather intimidating wildlife is part of this guy’s job, as he regularly comes face to face with animals such as crocodiles, lizards covered in spines, and other animals that can be potentially very harmful to humans in his nature show. In fact, the entire focus of his show is to let himself get intentionally bitten, stung, or whatever else you can think of by wild animals so that he can show his audience how these injuries affect our own human bodies.
In his most recent episode of Breaking Trail, Coyote let the species of wingless wasps called velvet ants, also known as cow killers, sting him, so he could experience for himself and his audience just how bad it really hurts. Coyote had to actually work pretty hard to get this wasp to sting him, as it seemed to want to avoid doing it even after being trapped in a jar on top of his arm. He actually had to really aggravate the insect to get it to sting him. You can actually see the wasp insert its stinger into his skin when he finally gets it to do so. And, as one might expect, it looked pretty freaking painful. Interestingly, the reason he’s letting the velvet ant sting him is so he can work his way up to being stung by the bullet ant.
Would you let yourself get stung by a velvet ant for fame and fortune?
