What Should I do after bitten by a fire ant?

A fire ant stings are known to inject venom that causes swelling, redness of the skin and itching. Often you will get discomfort followed by a clear blister, and the fluids of the blisters may turn cloudy hence swelling, itchy and painful. It’s important you get away from the fire ants as fast as possible to prevent further attacks. Here are home remedies that you should follow for ant bite treatment and the comfort of your home.

Ice Cube

An ice cube is a quick home remedy and the fastest way that you can use to prevent your body from swelling and surfacing on your skin. The histamines action is what causes your body to swell and ensuring that you keep your histamines under control will prevent your skin from itching and stop growing. Take an ice cube gently apply on the bite spot. The ice cubes act as natural antihistamines, and it will help to numb the pain and itching.

Vinegar

Applying vinegar instantly after fire ant bite will contribute to control the itching on the surface and prevent you from causing any more harm to your skin by scratching. Vinegar in nature acts as antibacterial, and it helps in preventing your body from any bacterial action on your skin surface after it has peeled due to scratching. Get a towel and dip it in the vinegar and gently apply over the bitten part more than once per day.

Toothpaste

Toothpaste is known to have a cooling effect on your skin due to the presence of menthol or peppermint or the cloves that are present in most of the brands. Applying toothpaste on the area affected will numb the pain and itching. In new toothpaste will also prevent your skin from swelling since histamines actions masked after you have applied it on the skin.  Toothpaste with Peppermint also helps to sooth your skin and it is better than the other brands.

Aspirin

Aspirin tablets have anti-inflammatory properties used to prevent swelling and remove pain and itching from fire ant bites and other insect bites. Take an aspirin tablet and crush it and add water then mix the paste together to create a paste. Apply the paste on your affected skin area and let it rest there for some time or even an overnight. Aspirin helps to reduce itching and swelling that might occur due to the bite.

Herbal Tea

Herbal tea is a natural home remedy that helps to treat fire ant bites naturally. Use herbal tea in your affected skin area by just rubbing the wet herbal tea immediately after the bite for efficient results. Herbal tea is known to contain an antioxidants agent that helps to reduce itching and swelling, and the black, herbal tea is the most effective one.

Cucumbers

Cucumber brings an immediate relief from any pain caused by insect’s bites. It also has an instant cooling effect and any irritation caused by the bites. Take a piece of fresh cucumber and rub it slightly in your infected skin area.

Clay

Clay is an effective ant bite home treatment that provides effective relief from pain and itchiness caused by the bite. Take clay and mix it with water to form a firm paste and then apply the paste to the affected area and its environs. Natural clay is known to have curing properties that help to soothe your skin. Clay is readily available in the garden or you can buy.

Honey

Honey is famous for its natural properties that soothe the skin after an ant bite. Honey is known to reduce itching caused by insect bites and its help to reduce any swelling that might occur. Rub some honey gently on the affected areas and wash off after some time.

Lemon Juice

Lemon juice has acidic properties in nature, and it helps to remove any poison on your skin that is caused by fire ant bites. All you need is get the fresh lemon and then squeeze its juice into a clean cup and apply the extract direct in the affected skin area. Use the lemon juice regularly until you feel relieved or until there is no more burning sensation in the skin.

Olive Oil

Apply olive oil on the affected area. Take your paper towel and add drops of olive oil then dab it next to the affected area for quite some time. Let the oil perform its magic and then rinse it with warm water. This ant bite treatment will help to soothe your skin and prevent it from swelling.

The above home remedies for treating fire ant bites are safe enough to use on kids since they are natural with natural properties. In addition to that, they are readily available in our home shelves and easy to use.
