Student Keeps Ten Thousand Bugs In His Dorm
Some of you may have been forced to reside at a college dormitory at some point during your early college years. The rules of dorm life can be strict. There is zero tolerance for alcohol, and tobacco on the dorm grounds, but apparently it is okay to house ten thousand different species of insect in one single dorm room. At least that is what bioengineering student and avid bug enthusiast, Zhao Yuchen has been getting away with for four years.
Since Yuchen is studying bioengineering he recognizes that insects happen to be nature’s greatest feat of engineering. Virtually all insects, despite their small sizes, are capable of lifting objects weighing fifty times their own body weight. It seems as though Yuchen’s arthropod friends serve to inspire him to approach his bioengineering studies with greater passion and purpose than your average every day non-insect collecting student of engineering.
When you see insects do you recognize a beautiful product of nature that you would love to hold in your hand? Or is pronounced disgust your sole feeling?
