Restaurant Patrons Find A Winged Bat In Their Salad | Bat Removal
Finding any kind of organism in your pre-packaged food is disturbing enough. It does not matter much if the animal is alive or dead it is found in food, the consumer tends to get upset either way. So imagine that you are in a restaurant with your boyfriend or girlfriend, and the both of you notice what looks like dead rodent remains in the salad that the two of you are sharing. Well, that exact scenario actually happened only the animal in question was a bat. And with an emphasis on the word “was”, because there was not much left of the bat, which means the chances for developing a serious bacterial illness is now especially high.
Even the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention got in the picture by confirming that two people were, indeed, eating the salad before they noticed the dead bat. The bat has since been sent to CDC labs in order to undergo various testing. Experts want to determine if the bat had rabies more than anything else.
The salad, as I am sure you could have guessed, is being recalled. The salad was shipped exclusively to Wal-Mart stores in the Southeastern region of the United States. The owner of the company (Fresh Express) that packaged the lettuce assured the public that officials with Fresh Express and Wal-Mart are working together to prevent the further sale of their item by having it removed from all Wal-Mart stores entirely. The CDC has stated that health officials with the CDC should be notified immediately if you or someone you know has consumed the plant material only to later discover animal remains in the salad. However, if you have consumed the salad without encountering a rotting corpse of some kind then you are in luck, and you don’t need to call the CDC.
Have you ever found an animal in the food that you were either eating or planning to eat?
