A Frightened Mother Finds A Giant And Dangerous Spider In Her Son’s Bedroom
The experts can say all they want about how harmless spiders are, but that does not change the fact that scores of people are hospitalized every year for complications resulting from spider bites. Granted, most of these medical cases don’t involve a spider’s venom; instead many spider bite victims will experience allergic reactions to spider bites, or a spider bite wound could necrotize. The latter example could lead to death unless the necrotized tissue is removed. So if you see a giant spider in your home, don’t feel like a scaredy-cat if you react by running and screaming. This is exactly how one woman reacted after recently finding a huge spider in her son’s bedroom.
One night a woman, Jillian Duke, was preparing for bed, but she thought she would check on her twenty one month old son first. Luckily she did, because she immediately found something odd looking near her son’s crib. At first, Jillian assumed that the object that she was looking at was a ball of string. Since Jillian did not own any cats, she figured she would take a closer look, and that is when she noticed that the strange object had eyes, several of them actually. Naturally, after finding out that this assumed inanimate object was alive, Jillian was left in a state of panic. Jillian quickly smashed the creature with several books, and then she called her husband and father into the room with the hopes that they would know what type of spider she had just crushed.
Jillian’s father insisted that the spider was the largest he had ever seen. Eventually, Jillian had the spider identified by an entomologist, and it turns out that the spider in question was a behemoth huntsman spider. According to experts, the behemoth huntsman spider is typically found in hot climates, such as regions of Australia, Africa and Asia. However, this recent sighting occurred in Michigan, which leads experts to think that this particular spider hitched a ride to Michigan from a far away location. The behemoth huntsman spider lives up to its title by sporting a leg span that equals one whole foot in length. Many experts claim that the behemoth is harmless to humans, but if this spider ended up biting the young child, this story could have been much more tragic.
