A Customer Who Found A Cockroach On His Pizza Had The Entire Eatery Shut Down
The toppings that you prefer on your pizza are simply a matter of personal taste. Different people enjoy all sorts of different pizza toppings. These toppings include just about any type of food. In fact, some people are crazy enough to think that pineapple has a place on pizza. However, we can all agree that cockroaches have no place on pizza. Back in December of 2016 someone ordered a takeout pizza only to discover a cockroach crawling along the top of the newly baked pizza. The worst part is the fact that the customers ate two full slices before realizing that it contained a live cockroach. Obviously the customers were disturbed by the roach presence, so they reported the restaurant to the proper authorities.
After the complaint was lodged, an inspector visited the pizza joint in December of 2016 and later in July 2017. Both times the inspector noticed that the restaurant was heavily infested with a variety of different insects, both alive and dead. As a result of the disgusting findings, the inspector slapped the managing director of the restaurant with a nearly five thousand pound fine. The managing director’s name is Abdul Makin and he pleaded guilty to eight food hygiene breaches at the magistrate’s court. Furthermore, inspectors also noted a complete lack of necessary maintenance within the eatery. The eatery appeared as though it had never been cleaned. In addition to that, there were several gaps in the building where insects could access the restaurant from the outside. A cockroach was found crawling near dry food products, but even worse than that were the many dead roaches found on a stainless steel food preparation table. According to the inspectors, the conditions in the restaurant were more than sufficient to require the business to close its doors until the roach infestation if fully eradicated. Even a city council member chided the owner for putting his customers in danger.
