Since subterranean termites require a significant amount of water in order to survive, a humid bathroom makes for an ideal habitat. Bathrooms have pipes that lead into the dirt below a home’s foundation. These pipes often leak, which easily attracts subterranean termites to a home. Once termites begin to infest a bathroom they have no problem receiving their much needed moisture since most people take humid showers daily. Termites have been known to feed on the wooden beams that support heavy porcelain bathtubs. Falling through your subfloor during a relaxing bubble bath could ruin your whole week. If you suspect termites in your bathroom then simply have an inspection done by a licensed professional.
