Bed Bugs Are Getting The Best Of A Group Of Hardcore Soldiers
It is well known that bed bug infestations can occur virtually anywhere. It is certainly not rare to find bed bugs in bizarre locations where other insect species would not be able to survive. Bed bugs are unique in that they can survive for long periods of time without any sustenance, and this is also why they are so hard to eradicate. It is fare to say that bed bug infestations annoy everybody, and this includes hardcore soldiers. Recently, Israeli soldiers have been experiencing a troubling bed bug infestation that they claim is not being handled by military authorities. You would think that hard-boiled soldiers with the Israeli Defense Forces could tolerate annoying bed bugs, but many of the bed bug victims are new recruits who never dreamed that they would have to tolerate bed bug infestations when they signed up for their two years of compulsory service.
Recently recruited soldiers at the Michve Alon base near the city of Safed complained to authorities several times about the bed bugs that are infesting the base. However, their complaints have fallen of deaf ears. This lack of response prompted several soldiers to post pictures of the bed bugs on social media sites, such as Facebook. Many of these photos are being posted along with captions that describe the military’s refusal to deal with the infestation. The numerous pictures include images of black bed bugs, both dead and alive. Many pictures also show the bed bug bites that have been sustained by many of the new recruits. Some of these pictures show bed bug bites all over the soldier’s bodies. Luckily, the soldier’s attempt to raise awareness by posting pics of the bed bug situation worked out for them, as commanders granted the soldier’s an extended vacation so that they could clean the affected rooms. However, according to many soldiers, the bed bug situation had only become worse upon their return. Despite these complaints, the army is insisting that the situation is “being handled”.
